Thanks to the generosity of trustees, board members, alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends, New College raised $62,978 from 520 supporters during the 2016 Giving Challenge, ending Sept. 21 at noon. This is an increase of 200 gifts and $9,000 from the 318 gifts and $53,757 raised in the 2015 Giving Challenge.
While participation and total giving increased this year, New College also qualified for significantly more in matching funds. The College is slated to receive $63,585 in additional matching gifts generously provided by the Patterson Foundation, which is almost triple last year’s matching gifts.
New College was one of 50 organizations that won the “Fast 50” prize of $500 for being one of the first organizations to receive 50 gifts.
After combining direct gifts, matching donations and prizes won, more than $120,000 was raised during the 24-hour period for New College this year! This year’s Challenge proved to be the most successful challenge yet for total amount raised for New College.
New College ranked ninth in overall funds raised and 10th in total givers, moving the College up several spots from last year. Initially founded five years ago with only 100 selected organizations, the Giving Challenge has grown to 550 participating organizations. New College has remained a top contender in the challenge since 2012 due to your support.
Please note that these numbers are subject to change as the Community Foundation of Sarasota finishes processing and assigning gifts. New College will receive the Giving Challenge funds officially after Nov. 30.
