Restoration work on the historic Caples Waterfront is scheduled to begin in February and be completed by April.
The New College of Florida Foundation was awarded a $50,000 grant from the William G. and Marie Selby Foundation for the project. The grant will go toward the removal of non-native invasive plants and the reconstruction of boat racks, a boathouse and other structures. New College and the student government also are contributing funds to the project.
The Caples waterfront is home to the Sainer Pavilion, Caples Fines Arts Complex, the Environmental Studies Program, faculty offices and classrooms, and the New College Waterfront Program, home of the nationally-ranked sailing team and the recreational boating center.
